Task

Reducing manual intervention and increasing automation, especially in precision machining processes, had become a major priority at Norm Tooling. The company wanted new CNC machine tools able to elevate both throughput and product quality, backed by a high level of technical support and training for fast, smooth integration.

Solution

Norm Tooling selected FANUC CNC vertical machining centres and wire EDM machines. The arrival of several ROBODRILL 𝛼-D21M𝑖B5 and ROBOCUT 𝛼-C400𝑖C models on site would provide the speed, accuracy and reliability metrics sought by the company. Importantly, FANUC’s comprehensive customer service was on hand to ensure seamless integration into production.

Result

The new FANUC machines, backed by FANUC’s world renowned technical support and training, soon helped Norm Tooling increase productivity by 7%, reduce error rates by 5% and cut production times by 10%. These gains, against a backdrop of machining around 40 million components a year, are extremely significant.

FANUC machines drive efficiency and cost control

Norm Tooling provides a high-quality, price-oriented, just-in-time (JIT) machining and cold-form die making service from its modern 10,000 m² machine park in Izmir, Türkiye. Investing in the latest CNC machining technologies is paramount for this progressive contract manufacturing business, as Production Executive Meriçcan Yolcu explains: “We produce parts that require high precision. With a focus on continuous improvement, we integrate the latest technologies into our manufacturing processes. In particular, the latest FANUC technologies help us optimise production.” 

Norm Tooling’s collaboration with FANUC was born out of the company’s need to make its manufacturing operations more efficient and precise. 

“High precision, low error rates and speed are critical factors for us,” says Yolcu. “That’s why we use FANUC vertical machining centres and wire EDM machines.”

Several ROBODRILL 𝛼-D21M𝑖B5 and ROBOCUT 𝛼-C400𝑖C models are now fully operational at Norm Tooling’s manufacturing plant. FANUC ROBODRILL CNC machining centres provide high speed and reliability in precision milling and drilling, while ROBOCUT CNC wire EDM machines help Norm Tooling achieve excellent results on complex parts.

“Reducing manual intervention and increasing automation, especially in our precision machining processes, was a major priority,” he says. “At the same time, the fast adaption and training of our operators to the new machines was vital. Thanks to the technical support and training provided by FANUC, we managed quick and successful integration.”

According to Yolcu, major reasons for choosing FANUC ROBODRILL and ROBOCUT solutions included their high operating performance and low error rates.
